Don't think I've ever encountered a year that has forced me to consider

the extreme ends of the emotional spectrum to sum up what

I've underwent in the last 365.

It's essentially been either just: sublime or horrid.

I think I said something about 2010 being different too and I penned that year down

as sublime but uh.

...I can't seem to find a word for this year.

Shit went down, yes.

Things looked up, yes.

Goodbyes are never easy.

Still not completely over it, really.

but it's for the best.

I just cannot be around all that;

egging me on.

I'm finally learning to be myself and I think it's a good thing.

My memories are waging a war with me.

long forgotten, filed-behind-ones (...for a reason) keep presenting

themselves to me at absurd moments.

Today, I was at some coffee house handing over more than $5 for a cup of coffee

and a memory of taping my red belt with black tips presents itself.

And I was like, huh.

The day before, I was reaching for my shampoo bottle and all of a sudden,

I'm 1.8m under the surface, my world is muffled - all sounds, ominous

and I'm scrabbling the white tiles of the swimming

pool for my instructor's watch.

My childhood's back to haunt me.

the horrid parts.

I absolutely disliked Thursdays and Sundays when I was 6-13.

Thursday - Taekwondo

Sunday - Swimming

That was essentially my life as a kid, apart from classes,

remedials/supplementaries, prefect duties and ECAs.

But now, I must say, there is a pang.

I sort of miss sparring.

/although I had to spar my 36 year old instructor at 11 because of my height -.-

I sort of miss backstroke-10, frog-10, freestyle-10 in 60 minutes.

/ehh. I always got feet cramps.

I wish my association hadn't disbanded because I used

that as a reason to not continue to 1st dan.

Swimming, well, I got my gold star and was just glad it was all over.

erm. I still don't dare to swim past buoys at the beach lol

yes, that was pun intended.

my mother was telling my brother and me that we should finish what we started.

joke.

More like what SHE started.

Woman just threw us into the void.

Sigh. I was just watching Youtube videos of Pattern #9 and

some rusty fragments of memory greeted the beginning sequence

like an old friend.

Bloody hell I miss netball.

I really really miss sports.

I used to have trainings on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

AND P.E on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Now, the only exercise I get is walking up the CASS hill.

This blows.

I dreadfully miss the ball drills and courtwork.

The excitement of a well angled lob soaring towards you from the centre-third.

Floodlights blinding you temporarily as you look up to intercept the ball.

The entire court (and me included) holding its breath as the ball

teeters dangerously on the rim.

The bitchy GDs & GKs who always seem to forget to shave or put on deodorant -.-

My fellow GA and I playing on astounding telepathy.

MANNNN, THOSE WERE THE DAYS.

I miss netball so much that at night, without meaning to, I get plagued with memories of bright lights and a shadow of the

beloved red-white-blue ball soaring towards me gleefully.

I've been doing the usual: lazing around and lepaking, not getting anything done.

During the last holidays I decided it was time I started memorizing the

bloody Basic Theory Handbook for Driving because kids younger than me are

burning rubber on the streets.

Did I get down to doing it?

I'm still braving the morning crowds (and its breath UGH), pushy aunties and

newspaper reading snobs on crowded MRT trains so WHADDYA THINK?

One rifle through the Advanced theory book is enough to make my head spin.

I have a memory capacity of about 100 kb.

How do I memorize all that crap?

If you ever want to shut me up, just ask me what I had for dinner two nights ago.

It's a wonder I can remember people's names.

(well, at least I don't call people SI PEI) heh.

But y'know, in the actual event that I do get down to memorizing and sitting down

for the two blasted tests AND passing the practical, I'm going to get a Jeep.

Honest to God, this movie spawned a many of firsts for me.

I've never rooted so much for a protagonist before, I've never been so moved by supporting

characters, I've never been so overwhelmed with emotions during a movie and

neither have I ever left the cinema with the happy satisfaction of $$$ well spent.

I'm not going to be a spoiler because I think one must really watch this movie to

experience the quiet glory of it.

Apparently it's common among stammerers to have been forcefully switched from left-handedness

to right handedness during childhood.

I was one of those kids and I still stammer lol.

Frida Gianni has done it again.

Bright jewel tones, copious amounts of fur and all that skintight leather.

She obviously wants no one to even cast black a second glance for their Fall wardrobe. No one is going to dare, not with Gucci’s explicitly phenomenal color story.

Prada Fall 2011 seems to share the same vision with this Italian fashion powerhouse; they have snake print on their garments, shoes and bags all over their runway too. But any sane person would lust over Gucci’s oeuvre of bespoke pieces in rich, jewel tones than Prada’s muted pastel colors and space-age, futuristic garments.

Slinky, sheer gowns, coloured briefs, tailored trousers, snake print pencil skirts,

well placed slits and that luxe, luxe fur - Gianni might still be hankering for the 80's but

really, who could blame her?

I really am shocked to discover that people i thought were my friends

the person(s) probably already have/has divulged all information to you.

They agreed that their work getting lost might be due to their oversight

so i like to keep most of my life private. I think it annoys some of my friends and close friends. I don’t like to delve into details about my life. I just like to, skim the surface and leave them high and dry. It’s my idea of fun (: I love to see them guess and try oh so very hard to worm details out of me. Even under the influence of alcohol I’m tight lipped HAHAHAHAHA good or what? I learned secrecy at my mother's lap. Obviously that GIF is from the Black Swan. I've watched it and I'd give it a 8/10. I liked it but to be honest, the plot was shit. Like if you've put a C list actress in Natalie Portman's place, it'd have been -4/10. The plot was centered around internal struggle and schizophrenia with a side of bipolar but all the ballet & prancing around kept me interested. I did feel like I wanted to slap 'Nina' at times because she was so reserved & constantly sniffling or something. But that's just me (: I LOVE NATALIE PORTMAN btw.

Black Swan made it to an 8 in my books because they did really really well on theatrics and dramatics. And I'd say yes any day to eerie and creepy ballet any day.

Today in class, I was feeling a bit too over-emotional I guess.

I'm 2 months late so you can imagine the stress and the hormones I'm feeling HAAHAHAHA

Okay, to be honest, I was angry at how our teacher was seeing us as incompetent

and stubborn idiots. And the best part was, she kept asking what was wrong and everyone was silent. I think this all the more proved to her that we were spoilt brats who couldn't take a simple lesson unlike the other 'normal' classes.

I complain and grumble too, yes, but guys, c'mon.

We all signed up for this. No one is here because they got thrown here.

Having a teacher scare us on what's coming next term is just really humiliating.

Why must a teacher cater to what we like when others can get through

the same lesson normally?

Are we special? Are we gifted? Are we stubborn? Are we stupid?

I don't know, you tell me.

I know there are MANY intellectual people in my class. So I don't get why

they don't want to open their mouths and share their ideas!

It's quite annoying having to answer every time a teacher asks a question

and then we get comments like,

'You guys are very noisy.' or 'You guys talk too much.'

THANKS AH.

A teacher has told us noisy people before that s/he was glad we participated

in class and made it more lively. But not everyone thinks the same.

I will admit I don't care if you hate my guts.

I just wanted the teacher to know we are not spoilt insolent brats who

need a more 'creative' way to learn. We're capable of everything & everything.

We just need to talk more and feed off each other for energy.

The weather this year's been perfect so far.

The weather reading on my mac says it's 24 degree celsius <3

Unfortunately, my moods have been fluctuating in the same spectrum

as the weather.

Man sometimes it gets tiring pretending everything is fine and dandy. I just want to drop everything and just sit down and bawl my eyes out. And then, even then, the heavy anchor of baggage will not dissipate nor disappear. Yes I complain about school and people to my close friends but I've never burdened anyone with other shit.

And I never will.

It takes bravery to open up and tell someone your troubles but it takes a different kind of bravery to keep everything inside and maintain a stoic front.

I've never felt this way about a year before

but 2010 has certainly been very very different compared

to the other years that have passed.

I'm actually sad that I have to say goodbye to 2010!

2010 has been an AWESOME POSOME year (:

I am glad to say I stayed true to what I wanted to achieve and

I think I'm a different person now.

I thank God, my family & wonderful friends for that.

We were on our feet for 8 hours straight but I don't think

we've ever been more contented.

It didn't feel like a typical community service project that you

do for the sake of results and/or CCA points.

I want to go back to SILRA whenever I can.

We volunteered at a home for ex lepers & planned a crazy outing for them.

Sometimes, when I come back home from school or wherever & see my camera

lying forlornly on the mantle, I feel horrible.

Sometimes I get distracted by dinner/homework/mags/God knows what else & I

forget about it till after a good inch of dust has settled on it & motes have

managed to get past the filter and on to the lens itself.

sometimes I come back from 10 hour days, throw my bag aside and grab my dear

500D and wander the void decks like a deranged woman.

People stare and wonder what the hell I'm doing at 12am, trying to snap

a peeekture of a cat glaring at me.

sometimes, wandering around aimlessly is actually rather fun!

you just see things differently when you have a camera in your hand.

I've only used film on like 3-4 occasions only because of all the hassel but I think

I want to develop (PUN INTENDED) the habit again.

the thing about using film and not digital is that, there is no

delete and retake so a lot more thought and emotion is involved in your

thought process before you click the shutter button.

I watched Paranormal Activity 2 last Saturday!

I promise, this entry isn't a spoiler! (:

Anyway, I don't get scared easily so it normally takes more than just

eerie sounds & showy effects to make me jump.

Amazingly, the franchise uses neither FXs and yet it was awesome enough to garner

100 Decibel screams and many fans!

I'll be honest: I was almost peeing in my pants for PA1 but PA2 didn't quite cut it.

It WAS scary though, but hands down, PA1 rocked it.

Still, do go and watch it. Know why?

BECAUSE,

not only is PA2 the SEQUEL it is also, get this, the PREQUEL!!!

LIKE MINDFUCK MUCH?!?!!

Thing is, much as I love the abbreviation DTVM & revel in the fact that

my course is out of this world,

I wish I could change the name of my course.

When I was much younger, when Singapore hadn't introduced the wonders of

cable telly yet, my brother and I didn't have much to do.

There was only so much of UNO, silly Neopets games & cycling/skate scooting we could take.

So we often rummaged through my mother's music CD collection.

9th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Centre & the Pentagon.

My heartfelt condolences and regards to the innocent victims and their families.

Anyway, regarding the reason for my lament on life...

Sometimes, I wonder what we're here for. I'm sure this question has plagued your mind as many a times as it has mine. All those victims in the attacks, they were once a SOMEBODY when they had lived. They must have worked hard, studied & slogged their guts out to have gotten a business class seat on the plane or a job on the 84th floor of the WTC or a right to wear the FDNY uniform!

And for what?

They climbed the (figurative) academic, social, economic, and political ladder... just to die? Of course they hadn't known about their fate. Do any of us? That's why I wonder, what's the point? Sometimes I just see no point in fighting so hard, failing and falling & struggling in the ebb and flow of Life. We came into this world with nothing and we leave the same way, no?

Another reason that constituted this entry was something I learnt in the office today.

So... I know people who've worked extremely hard to be where they are today, good natured with a kind heart + mind to boot and YET, are struggling despite having the qualifications that are expected here! AND THENNNNNN, I learn about people who have less than mediocre qualifications, a mean heart (and face to match), earning more than a neurosurgeon!

WHAT IN THE WORLD?!?!?!!!

LIFE SEEMS TO HAVE GONE TO THE DOGS.

What am I studying so hard for then?

Might as well throw my ambitions & goals into the drain & work right?

I still haven't gotten over that shock, N!

Most of the time, I just want to give up. I just want to let all the fight go out of me and sag in a corner. And watch the telly till it's time for me to go.

But then, I remind myself of what my mother once told me when I was much younger:

"Of course everyone dies eventually. But that doesn't mean you sit in a corner and mope about till Death comes to bring you on. You must make a name for yourself so that even after you're dead, people will still speak highly of you and your achievements! People will forever remember you. Only then will you be able to really die peacefully."

For that and only for Mother, I'll work even more harder and prove it to those imbeciles.

I love Billy Joel.

His voice gives me the chills; it always manages to evoke emotions in me.

The songs that he write/has written are so meaningful and on

subjects people don't usually broach.

Also an amazing pianist, his perspective is just so unconventional.

I first heard him in 13 going on 30 & I was pleasantly suprised

by the lyrics in Vienna & how much I could relate to it even

though it was a song Billy wrote about aging.

Vienna is still my fav fav fav,

followed by River of Dreams, Uptown Girl, Piano Man

and You're Only Human.

I'd have to admit though: the songs he sang in studio when he was younger

are much better than the ones he sang LIVE during concerts.

He just turned 61 so his voice is a little rougher now?

By the way, does anyone else think Billy Joel and Paulo Coelho

look quite alike or is it just me!?? hahahahahahahahahaha

I've come to realize how much I enjoy working together with

crazy friends in a group.

When you work together as a group, the whole experience is

suddenly much more enjoyable; more pleasant.

You avoid potholes on the road, you constantly reassure one another,

you think as one, you move as one.

Most importantly, you have fun.

Pressure is of course, ever present like an annoying exam

invigilator who hovers behind your seat trying to glance at your paper.

But when you have company, all that becomes a distant worry.

Work, from being a chore, becomes an exciting game.

For someone who feels like this, the coming CAs are

going to be realllllllllly hard.

I hate how i'm up against the awesome people i've

worked with >:{

but that's how the cookie crumbles...
